Marine

The marine environment is the most corrosive natural environment, and Techalloy has the alloys to combat this environment. Nickel containing alloys such as cupronickels, austenitic stainless steels and nickel base alloys are used in seawater and marine applications because of their resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Typical applications include pumps, valves, propeller shafts, exhaust systems, piping systems, tanks, heat exchangers, fasteners, bellows, and desalination equipment.

Many marine applications involve a combination of strength, appearance and exceptional corrosion resistance, especially where salt water is involved. Techalloy provides it's full range of high strength techbrite wires for marine solid-strand and stranded cabling applications. Our stainless steel alloys with the important addition of molybdenum to the melt, helps to offer increased resistance to the highly corrosive effects of sea water and salt spray air.

Techalloy grades 316, 317, Alloy 50, and 904-L all have increased levels of this element to resist pitting and general surface attack. Our premium alloy also include those having a unique combination of nickel and copper called Alloy 400 and K-500, are often specified for cold formed bolts, screws and other fasteners for salt water applications.

Both offer superior corrosion resistance to salt water, with the K-500 offering added strength properties by final age hardening using an addition of elemental aluminum to the melt.
